Daily Gratitude - 16 July 2012

I missed a couple of days due to a combination of working around the house, relaxing, and... ...okay, so I don't really  have a good reason, but that's not important.

Let's begin with a quotation from today's Tiny Buddha daily "Tiny Wisdom" email...

Joy in looking and comprehending is nature’s most beautiful gift.” ~ Albert Einstein

#1 - I have a job that enables me to pay my rent, utilities, and feed myself & my dogs.

#2 - The prospect of moving in the next couple of months is daunting but exciting, too!

#3 - This weekend's monsoons cooled the temperatures down considerably.  Every little bit helps when it's July and you live in a desert in the northern hemisphere!

#4 - I made chipotle mac & cheese last night with roasted broccoli (I love my toaster oven!) and it was utterly delicious.

#5 -  I don't have to worry about removed the dead palo verde stump anymore... Gatsby dug it out for me!

Daily Gratitude - 12 July 2012

#1 - My house no longer feels like a sweat lodge!  Thank you to Russ for saving the day and letting me borrow their a/c unit. :)

#2 - Once I got to sleep last night, I slept deeply and well.

#3 - There is a lunch meeting at work today, which means I get free lunch!

#4 - I also have to walk around and do a chemical inventory, so I get to dress more comfortably than usual.  Waaaaaay more comfy than usual!

# 5 - The dogs are all healthy and happy.  And so am I.

Daily Gratitude - 10 July 2012

#1 - I got caught in a monsoon on the way home but didn't get stuck by lightning.  Also, the dress I was wearing is opaque, even when wet!

#2 - I am drinking one of my favourite beers, from one of my favourite breweries: Arrogant Bastard ale by Stone Brewery.

#3 - Lola Lulu's ear drops arrived in the mail today; perfect timing because humidity usually causes her chronic ear infections to flare up.

#4 - I had not one, but four emails that totally made my day today! :)

#5 - I feel very loved by those around me.

Up and At 'Em?

It's almost two in the morning.  I think I went to bed around 10:30 or 11pm.  Why do I keep waking up in what should be the middle of the night?  Especially when I usually wake up between 4:30-5am.  It's like I'm living in entirely different time zone; at least partially.

I'd make a "Twilight Zone" remark but more and more people seem to think I'm referring to sparkly vampires instead of the cult classic.

This is the world we live in, folks!

Daily Gratitude - 9 July 2012

(AKA, "Things I am Thankful For")

#1 - There was only one puddle of pee on the floor when I got home today!  (It was also Whiskey's first time left un-crated all day long.)

#2 - I remembered to pick up tostadas from the grocery store on my way home from work.

#3 - I am drinking a chelada with Lemons on one side and Lola Lulu on the other.

#4 - Payday is Friday, but I still have a little bit of money in my pocket!  (Every week, I struggle a little less!)

#5 - My back doesn't hurt much today and my feet & head don't ache at all.

What 5 things are you grateful for today?

Today's To Do List

#1 - Go home, watch "Hoarders," and clean my house.

#2 - Make spicy mango-cucumber-black bean tostadas for dinner.

#3 - Remember to stop by Food City on the way home and BUY tostadas.

#4 - Make Kiera call people so I don't have to.  :)

#5 - Okay, so I'll probably just call them myself.  :(

Welcome Back!

What have I been doing for the past four months?  Or is it five?  I don't feel like fact-checking that.  Where do I even begin...?  How about with dogs!  The rescue has rapidly grown since it was founded at a local coffee shop last Guy Fawkes Day (true story).  To date, we (Arizona Bird Dog Rescue) have rescued 31 dogs from shelters, "free dog" ads on Craigslist, and owners who come to us for help rehoming their dog.  In the process, I have adopted my third (and final!) dog, Jack Lemon who is a noble, sweet, & utterly charming 9 year old lemonhead English pointer.

I also got a full-time job, in addition to the full-time job of running a dog rescue.  I have fives times as many bosses as most folks and I love both my job AND my co-workers.  Most of them anyway.  How often does that happen?

Fill In The Blank Friday (On Sunday)

While trying to get myself into the habit of "writing daily, writing ANYTHING daily" I am a self-admitted sneaky weasel and I look for ways to cut corners.  Wordless Wednesday is one of them (although I mostly forget to do use that cheat move).  Now I have become aware of "Fill In The Blank Fridays" on a charming blog called the little things we do, which I found via some way or other earlier today.  Maybe via Pinterest, maybe via another blog.  I can't remember.  The point is this is FUN and it's not entirely cheating.  Also, it's not Friday, but who cares?

1.  If money wasn't an issue, the first thing I'd cross of my life list is     buying a house with several acres, fully & securely fenced for the dogs   .

2.     Crackers & pickles & cheese     is something I like that other people think is weird.

3.  If my life were a movie right now, the title would be     Year of the Dog   .

4.  Three things I am looking forward to this month are     Willow and Baylee getting adopted (I hope!), seeing my friend LeeAnne Savage in concert, & seeing the results of my diet/exercise/meditation/lifestyle continue to blossom   !

5.  My favorite song to sing in the shower is    "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell   .

6.  If I found out that the production of     Pond's Cold Cream     was ending this month, I'd go out and buy as much as I could tomorrow.

7.  One thing I'll never grow tired of is     watching the sun set each night; no matter where I am, it is always a unique composition of light and colour   .
